Jacob sends a wave out to all his friends

Jacob figured out how to wave! It is so cute. :)

We got a video of it tonight while he was eating his dinner.



The rest of the evening whenever we would say 'hi' and wave to him, he would wave back. We'll see if he remembers tomorrow. :P

Stayin' Cool in the Pool

We got Jacob a pool and tried it out today. He loved it! And I love that it has a canopy top so he stays shaded. Gotta keep that white, white baby out of the sun!



Ahhhhhh........blissfully cool water. He didn't even seem to mind when he splashed himself in the face :P

Grandma to the rescue!

My mom talked to my grandma today and she said when she was a girl they used a hairpin to pit cherries. I tried it today to pit the cherries for my pie and it worked pretty well. You just open the pin up a bit and use the hook end to sort of scoop the pit out. Thanks, Grandma!! I would love to share a piece of my pie with you, but I don't think it would travel the 2000 miles very well. :P

Can't wait to dig into this later tonight!

Cherry Pickers

Early this morning we all headed out to Beaumont to pick some cherries. There is an organic farm where you can pick your own. We decided to go as soon as we could get ready so we could beat the heat and go before Jacob's morning nap. I think we left at 7:00. Man, I remember the days of getting up at 7:00. Those days are gone, I guess!




Jacob had never had cherries before and couldn't get enough of them once he tried one. He is about to eat one in the picture above. Yummy!

Now I am on the quest for a cherry pitter. I went to 4 places today with no luck! If you know of a place I can get one or have one I can borrow, please let me know! Seriously, I have 7 lbs of cherries and don't relish the thought of pitting them without a pitter.

Fish, Bookworms and Swing

Saturday night Alan, my dad and brothers went on a twilight deep sea fishing trip. They came home with 4 sea bass which was a bit of a disappointment considering that the trip they went on three years ago yielded a lot more. Then they caught a whole mess of barracuda and Alan caught a 32 lb hailbut. I was expecting to have to clear out space in the freezer, but that was certainly not necessary. They still had a fun time and that is what really matters, right??

On Sunday we grilled them at my parents' and gave Jacob a taste.

This morning Jacob and I met my friend Cecilia and her girls at the new Highland library for their Bookworm Babies story/activity time. It was pretty cute. We start out by introducing ourselves and after the mommy says the baby's name everyone says, 'Hello' to the baby. When they said 'Hello, Jacob' he put up his hand like he was waving. I am sure it was unintentional, but it was cute! Then we sing a few songs (even some in Spanish), followed by a couple stories. Jacob was surprisingly attentive during the stories. When I try to read him a book, he just tries to grab it and eat it. I guess since the lady reading the book was farther away, the temptation to grab the book wasn't there. At the end they have playtime and he had a blast playing with the toys and other kids. I think we'll go back next week.

Produce morning

Alan decided to go to the organic produce co-op with Jacob and me this morning. Since he had never been before, he wanted to check it out. I was looking on their website at the pics taken at today's meeting and there we were! Too bad you can't see Jacob in Alan's arms. He's hidden behind my head. Anyway, there I am loading up the bags with our delicious produce.

















Jacob is eating finishing up his dinner as I am posting this and I just looked over to see he pulled his bib up so he can feast on all the food he dropped in the bib pocket. Lovely.

How will I ever resist??

Jacob and I got Alan a new camera for Father's Day. Here are some pictures he took of Jacob today.
