Texas Family Fun

We got back from our visit to Austin Tuesday night. It was hotter than hot in Texas, but we had a great time!

On Saturday we headed to the Ice Cream Festival. Yummy! The adults paid a few bucks to get in, kids were free, and then there were tons of ice cream vendors selling cups o' the good stuff for a couple bucks. They also had a craft tent, a rock wall, petting zoo and game booths. My favorite was the organic cinnamon ice cream. Oh so good!

Jacob enjoying some chocolate ice cream. A rare treat!

Lila and Sam with the Baskin Robbins ice cream dude. It took some coaxing for them to pose for this picture, but I finally convinced them to do it for their dear auntie!

and my personal favorite, the goats

On Sunday we went to the children's museum. It was a really cool place with tons for the kids to experiment with. There was a little play area for babies and toddlers where Jacob had a blast crawling around and playing with all the cool stuff.

Jacob and Daddy don't want to work. They just wanna bang on the drum all day!

Jacob liked watching the ball roll down the tunnels

On Monday we visited the Capitol.

They had a fun visitors center where you could learn all kinds of cool stuff about the state of Texas.

Most evenings were spent swimming in the pool. :)

Jacob even had his own little car to tootle around in.

Surfs up!

This was the first time Randall, Hilary, Lila and Sam met Jacob and the cousins had a lot of fun playing. Sam really wanted Jacob to watch Sponge Bob Square Pants with him.

For his birthday, they gave Jacob some Mega Blocks which he loves playing with. He has them strewn all over the livingroom! They also got him a cool tunnel and playhouse. He and Sam had a blast playing in it together. I have a short video of Jacob climbing through it, but it isn't uploaded yet.
I took a picture of him playing in it today.

I thought maybe I had gained like 10 pounds on the trip. We did lots of eating! Lila is becoming quite the little cook. She made us French toast with cinnamon chip bread, cinnamon rolls and skillet peaches which were served with ice cream and topped with sugary pastry strips. YUMMY! We went to good restaurants too - an Italian buffet, a Tex Mex place and out for breakfast where Jacob ate almost as much pancake as Lila!

Somehow Hilary and I managed to avoid getting in any of the pictures. Well, I was in one. Alan snapped one of me sacked out taking a nap in a chair, but it is hideous and I refuse to post it!

Thanks Randall, Hilary, Lila and Sam for a really fun vacation! Can't wait to see you all again. :)

Looks like you fit a lot into a short time! What fun...meeting and playing with cousins. Maddie loved that while in MN.
