Jacob was much more interested in playing with toys, but we did manage to convince him to put a couple ornaments on the tree.
Even Isaac got in on the action, with a little help from Boppa
Yummy drummer boy (or caroler or whatever this dude is)
He loved looking at the lights
He also loved helping Oma by emptying her box of decorations
We also attempted to get a nice picture of the boys for my parents' Christmas letter. Oh my, my, my! First we tried to get a shot in front of the tree, but Isaac was crawling away and Jacob was trying to run away to play with toys. Then we tried sitting them on the couch. We had to bribe them with trucks and this is still as good as it got. Not stellar. Not even close. I think my parents are going with solo shots of the boys for their letter. :P
While we were gone, Alan was busy putting up lights in the playroom. We've never had lights in there and during the summer it was not a problem because the boys got up when it was light out and went to bed before dark. Now they get up before the sun and go to bed a couple hours after dark, so they've been playing in the semi-darkness. We turn the lights on in the surrounding rooms, but it doesn't quite cut it. Jacob is always saying, 'Help me light. Help me light.' The wires for the overhead lighting are all messed up and in order to fix it we would have to tear up the ceiling, so that isn't an option, at least not for now. The other option would be to get a floor lamp or table lamp of some sort, but I can just imagine the disaster with that! We've been wracking our brains trying to come up with something and Alan came up with the idea of stringing lights across. He found strings of airplane lights and I love them! So do the boys. Whenever they are on, they just sit and stare up at them.
Aren't they cool? These pictures don't really do them justice. You really have to see it in person to get the full effect.
